Total Milage Today: 59.98 (longest riding day ever for Katie)
We made it through the night with no police calls were made and our bikes were still there! Pack up camp and start heading to the Jimmy's Johnny (porta-potty) just in time for Katie to loose one of her straps to her pannier. Don't worry superhero Jimmy found it.
The butts were definitely a little sore today. 21 miles in we stopped in Pine City, thank god because Katie's ass could not take it anymore! But a fresh cup off coffee can make anything better for Katie! Jimmy is a pro at this so he's just cruising along like it's nothing. Just when Katie thought everything was great..... HOLY THIGHS!!!!! That is one thing that coffee does NOT help! Biking does not hurt so much but walking... dear lord. "It feels like I would have black and blue legs if I took my pants off" - Katie
On the road again.... to Tobies in Hinckley we go! We are going 0.7 miles out of our way just to get a cinnamon roll. Yes every mile counts for Katie.
2 miles outside of Hinckley luck strikes again for Katie.... this time a flat tire!!!
30 minutes later, one nail, one patched tube, trying to fill our spare tube, 2 ticks, and some laughs... we are on the road again! To Tobies we go!!
Food was good, Jimmy kept stealing all the water from the waitress water jugs to fill our water bottles. Jimmy goes outside to fill our water pouch and drops it on the ground... oh guess what.. A HOLE... not surprised! :/ I found another tick on me while waiting for food (it's a bad year for ticks we hear).
Start to head to the beginning of the Willard Munger State Trail. They have a bike fixer thing at the beginning of the trail so we tried to fill up the spare tube... and a blow out... flat tire AGAIN! Time to see if our patching skills are up to par and will hold. A nice old man did try to help us because he thought the pump was broken so we went to get his pump from his home; apparently he has fixed the pump quite a few times.
The Munger Trail is a pretty straight trail except for about 2 miles, then it gets crazy... a couple turns and hills... highlight of the trail. Along the trail we saw a cow on a side road, we think he "ran away" from his home... just down the driveway. This house had cows, goats, horses, and an alpaca!!!! The weather was cool and cloudy for most of the day, very nice for Katie's sunburn. Then it started to lightly rain, nice to get a little sample of different weather along the way. We ended up finding a park shelter in Willow River and decided to call it home for the night.
Holy thighs still !!!!!!!!!!
We were dry for the night and no punk ass kids... just a stray cat and a super quiet place to sleep. Getting our tent set up and bed made for the evening, Katie inflates her sleeping pad and 2 minutes later one side is flat. What do you know, 2 holes and a tire patch kit does NOT fix holes in a sleeping pad. We thought maybe Katie didn't blow it up all the way the night before, nope just some holes. It going to be a long night on the cement floor!!!
Until tomorrow!
